Stansted airport transfers: pickup and onward travel
For a Stansted transfer, start with your flight number, travel date and the full address at the other end of the journey. Add every passenger and all the luggage, including cabin cases. A group can fit the seat allowance and still need more luggage space.

Comparing the train with a road transfer

Compare the whole trip. For rail, include any onward train or Underground changes and the walk to your address. For a car, consider traffic at the time you plan to travel and whether the vehicle has room for your group and bags. Check actual services for early departures or late arrivals, when the timetable can be particularly important.
A quoted journey to a London station cannot tell you how long it will take to reach a hotel on the other side of the city. Use the exact postcode when planning either option.
Where to go after landing
Complete any passport checks and collect your luggage, then follow the meeting instructions for your booking. If you cannot find the driver or meeting place, contact us with your booking reference and a clear description of where you are.
Stansted has different parking and vehicle access arrangements. Check the airport’s current pickup information if you are familiarising yourself with the layout. Your booking instructions should identify the collection arrangement for your journey. Do not assume a drop-off sign or a car park used on a previous visit is the right place today.
If a suitcase has not arrived, tell us before spending time with the baggage desk. Explain whether the rest of your party is ready to leave. Ask how any delay affects the pickup and waiting arrangements attached to your booking.
Planning a departure from Stansted
Choose the airport arrival time using your airline’s guidance, then work backwards through the journey from your home, hotel or office. Include time to load the car and reach check-in with your luggage. If your flight leaves just after midnight, check the calendar date carefully: the journey to the airport may begin the previous evening.
For an early collection, confirm the exact entrance and how you will meet the driver. Hotel reception can help you identify a sensible collection point, but changes to a HAT booking should also be sent to us.
Check the passenger count again if friends are joining later. Extra stops and extra bags need to be discussed before the journey so the arrangements reflect the trip you intend to make.
Travelling with children or bulky luggage
Tell us about pushchairs, child seats and unusually large items before choosing a vehicle. A cabin bag, folded pushchair and large suitcase can occupy space differently, even when someone describes all three as “one bag”. If you are unsure, send dimensions and say whether an item folds.

A flight from another airport
An onward flight from Heathrow, Gatwick or Luton needs a separate connection plan. Include arrival formalities, travel between airports and the next airline’s deadlines.
